Shyann Malone is an anchor/reporter.
Shyann is a hard worker, and she never settles for anything less than excellence. I appreciated that quality about her — a former athlete — she brings to the job the same discipline and work ethic that made her such a force on the volleyball court. When she shadowed me on the job, she would show up early, gladly work long hours, and she was determined to produce the best quality product possible. That is the daily standard.

“I met George Howell during my internship at WSB-TV2 in Atlanta, GA August 2010. We worked together on a weekly basis. I shadowed him while he covered a wide range of local news stories in a top ten market. He challenged me to become a better writer and on air talent. We spent countless hours practicing quality stand-ups that would move the story forward. Because of the time and quality coaching I received from George, I was able to quickly develop a better understanding of the world of journalism. We compiled my best materials and created a demo reel. I received lots of interest.
I accepted an Anchor position with a small CBS affiliate in Greenville, MS. This was an opportunity for me to take off the training wheels to see what I was really made of. During my 8 month stent there, George, continued to work with me from afar, giving me constant feedback. It didn’t take long for me to land another opportunity at WACH Fox news in Columbia, SC nearly one-hundred markets larger in less than a year.
George is more than a coach and mentor; he goes beyond his call of duty to help those that want to be helped. His love for writing and ability to guide others makes him an invaluable coach. George’s honest critiques and creative coaching tactics have helped me develop into a rising journalist. I still have a long journey ahead but with George’s influence I know it will be a successful one.
George is an outstanding Journalist. He is passionate about his profession and that shows through his work. Not only does he focus on telling the story, he puts the person feelings first. George can connect with people instantly and he possesses attributes that cannot be taught. He is a leader by example and his teaching abilities come naturally.”
