WASHINGTON DC – Behind the scenes photos during my interview with Secretary of Education Arne Duncan.

We were on assignment in Gainesville, GA covering a story about high school student athletes practicing in extreme heat. There have been four heat related student deaths as of August 2011; two of the deaths occurred in the state of Georgia. Here are a few behind the scenes pictures from the shoot that day. To see one of the live reports I did on the issue you can view the video here. There is also a full length piece you can view here, via CNN.com.
Photojournalist Dante Tinsely in the shot here from a story we covered this weekend. Several women who participated in the World Cup returned to Atlanta from the game in Germany – the U.S. team placed second to Japan in a game decided by penalty kicks. In advance of Sunday’s scheduled game, the Women’s Professional Soccer league team The Atlanta Beat held a special ceremony for its players, and for women of the opposing Magicjack team.
I remember one fan I interviewed that day nearly broke down in tears when describing how proud she was of the U.S. team, bringing more attention to women’s soccer. It was a pretty cool event! Here are a few pictures.
